1. RBI directive on foreign currency accounts
i. The Reserve Bank of India has directed banks to: convert credit balances in any inoperative foreign currency (FC) denominated deposit into Indian rupee if the former remains not in use for three years from the date of maturity of deposit.
ii. Thereafter, the depositor shall be entitled to claim either the said Indian rupee proceeds and interest or the foreign currency equivalent (at the prevalent exchange rate) of the Indian rupee proceeds of the original deposit, the RBI added.
iii. The RBI further said in case of inoperative foreign currency denominated deposit not in use for three years and having no fixed maturity period, the bank should give three month notice to the depositor and convert the deposit from the foreign currency to Indian rupee.

vii. The slogan for this year is Raise Your Voice Not The Sea Level. and it highlights the need to mainstream the discourse and action on the future of Small Island Developing States by being heard loudly and clearly.
3. Retired Air Chief Browne named envoy to Norway
i. Air Chief Marshal (Retd.) N A K Browne has been appointed India’s next Ambassador to Norway, the Ministry of External Affairs announced on Tuesday. Air Chief Browne had recently retired.

4. Australian eves complete hat-trick of World T20 titles
i. Australian eves once again proved their supremacy in women’s cricket as they completed a hat-trick of ICC World T20 titles with a comprehensive six-wicket win over England in the final in Mirpur on Sunday.
ii. Australian captain Meg Lanning smashed her way to 44 off 30 balls, helping her team surpass a paltry target of 106 with as many as 29 balls to spare.
iii. Lanning’s innings had four boundaries and two sixes. The first six -- a lofted shot over long-off ropes off seamer Anya Shrubsole -- was a treat to watch. It was a copybook backlift and one can’t take away anything from that shot although the boundary ropes have been brought in by at least 10 yards for the women’s final.
