1. NASA Cassini Spacecraft provided New View of Saturn and Earth
i. NASA in November 2013 released a natural-color image of Saturn from space, the first in which Saturn, its moons and rings, and Earth, Venus and Mars, all are visible.
ii. The panoramic mosaic of the majestic Saturn system was taken by Cassini Spacecraft of the NASA.
About the Cassini Spacecraft
Cassini Spacecraft was launched in 1997 and explored the Saturn system for more than nine years. NASA has planned to continue the mission through 2017 with the anticipation of many more images of Saturn, its rings and moons, along with scientific data.
2. Cheraman Financial Services gets RBI nod for leasing, equity finance
i. The Reserve Bank of India has granted a registration certificate to Cheraman Financial Services Ltd to carry out the business of a non-banking finance company without accepting public deposits.
ii. The financial services of the company are limited to leasing and equity finance. The financial resources needed would be raised through share capital.
iii. The activities of the company are in compliance with the provisions of the RBI Act 1934, a statement issued here said.
3. ECGC to offer direct factoring facility for MSMEs
i. The Export Credit Guarantee Corporation (ECGC) will be offering direct factoring facility for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
ii. The corporation had recently introduced a new country-risk rating for the benefit of MSMEs, he added.
iii. ECGC, which has 62 branches now, would be opening three new branches in Chennai, Ahmedabad and Kollam soon, he added.
iv. TS Vijayan, Chairman of Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority, formally inaugurated the branch premises.
4. India and Japan decided to strengthen their Cooperation in the Maritime Sector
i. India and Japan on 9 November 2013 decided to further strengthen their cooperation in the maritime sector as a part of the overall robust bilateral relations.
ii. The two countries agreed to enhance their interaction through the existing forums and through port-to-port exchanges. This was decided during the visit of Union Minister of Shipping G.K. Vasan, to Japan.
iii. India explained the developments that were taking place in its Ports sector and assured Japan that concerns regarding infrastructure and connectivity of ports are being addressed expeditiously.
iv. Japan acknowledged the existing cordial relationship between the two nations, assured that it will carry forward the momentum. Japan expressed its interest in shipbuilding and recycling industries in India.
