9. Bolt regains world 100m title in emphatic style
i. Jamaican sprint star Usain Bolt lifted track and field out of the doping doldrums as he reclaimed his world 100m title in emphatic style on Sunday.
ii. Bolt clocked a season's best 9.77 seconds in heavy rain at the Luzhniki Stadium, with American Justin Gatlin claiming silver in 9.85sec and Nesta Carter, also of Jamaica, taking bronze in 9.95sec.
iii. Athletics' credibility had again been called to account in recent weeks, notably after American sprint rival Tyson Gay and Asafa Powell tested positive for drugs.
iv. Once again it was Bolt, the powerfully-built 26-year-old world record holder in both the 100 and 200m, who came to the rescue, at least in the short term.
9. Banks approach RBI to hike ATM transaction fee
i. Banks are likely to start charging customers for transacting more than five times a month at any bank ATM, including their own bank.
ii. Banks have mooted the charge on ATM transactions to pay for the increased security costs at ATMs, put in place by many State Governments, following the grievous attack on a woman inside an ATM kiosk in Bangalore last November.
iii. Currently, there is no cap on the number of transactions that a customer can undertake at his own bank’s ATM.
iv. However, the number of free transactions at other banks ATMs has been capped at five a month.
v. Banks may also down the shutters of some ATMs at night, especially at locations where footfalls are low.
vi. Last week, RBI Deputy Governor K.C. Chakrabarty said the regulator will have no objections if the lenders charge a ‘reasonable fee’ for the ATM services.

i. A listless Indian cricket team slumped to its worst ODI series defeat in New Zealand, going down 0-4, after the Black Caps hammered them by 87 runs in the inconsequential fifth and final one-dayer in Wellington on Friday.
